Dehesa uses the learning style program created by Mariaemma Willis, M.S. and Victoria Kindle Hodson, M.A., authors of Discover Your Child's Learning Style and founders of the Learning-Success Institute, to guide families in creating the best atmosphere for learning at home. Dehesa Charter School is a Learning-Success School and has trained Learning Styles Coaches on staff.

We personalize each student's educational program through the use of a Learning Styles Profile. Personalizing student learning not only increases student success and achievement levels, it also promotes self-directed learning and the joy of learning. We go well beyond the conventional idea of visual/auditory/kinesthetic learning and provide a complete program for assessing a child's inner strengths, as well as a step-by-step guide for creating an atmosphere that will help encourage a child's full learning potential.

The Learning Styles Profile assesses 5 aspects of Learning Style. They are Talents, Interests, Modality, Environment, and Disposition. Other learning style evaluations generally assess only one or two of these aspects.  Although no assessment can evaluate every possible combination of characteristics, the Learning Styles Profile is unique in putting together many important aspects of Learning Styles and organizing the information to help you evaluate your Learning Style.
